北向き急斜面に建つ木造住宅の再生計画です。
斜面に沿って無秩序に増築されていた既存家屋は、地形の力強さを感じさせてくれる魅力がありました。

日中でも部屋のほとんどは暗く、傷みが激しかった既存建物の健全な部分を生かしながら住まい手の老夫婦にとって最適なボリュームへと削り取るように減築していきました。削り取った断面から、光と風が空間全体に満ちていくように計画しています。
通常の設計プロセスからは生まれないのような、大きな煙突のような吹き抜け空間や、一層分を削ったことによる大きなギャップを繕うための玄関アプローチの階段などの奇妙さをあえて残すことによって、既存の佇まいから感じたこの場所の力強さを継承しようと考えました。

Existing houses, which were extensively constructed along the slope, had a charm that made me feel the power of the terrain.Most of the room was dark during the day as well, while taking advantage of the healthy part of the existing building where the damage was intense.

I reduced it to shave it down to the optimum volume for elderly couple living in the house.From the cut section, we are planning to fill the entire space with light and wind.
There is a large chimney-like colonnade space, etc. that does not come from the usual design process,By leaving a strange thing such as the staircase of the entrance approach to repair a big gap due to shaving a further portion,I thought to inherit this place I first felt and the strength of the building. to fill the entire space.
